Owen, Erika (Special Education Teacher)

  My name is Erika Owen, and I am a special education teacher with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and dual certification. I am originally from Mobile, AL and graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2017 (Go Jags). Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work in various settings, including resource, general education, and self-contained classrooms. However, teaching special education is my true passion. I love the unique energy and individuality each student brings, and witnessing their progress is incredibly rewarding. Our students constantly remind me of the importance of being true to yourself and to recognize progress over perfection. This is my first year teaching at Chickasaw Elementary and it already feels like a school family. I believe I am here for a reason and I am excited and grateful to be part of the Chickasaw Elementary School community, where I strive to make a positive difference everyday.
